Carlos Melendez, 62, got his wings Friday, December 9, 2016 at 9:08 p.m. at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13th at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel in Merkel with Freddie Grohman officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Carlos was born March 6, 1954 in San Angelo, Texas. He was adopted shortly after by Moses and Luz (Flores) Melendez. He grew up in Winters, Texas where he graduated from Winters High School in 1973. He remained very close to his classmates throughout the years.
He worked in the oil field, drove a truck for Mac Oil Field Co. and for Dry’s Manufacturing both of Winters. Truck driving was his passion. He loved traveling the states. He was married twice in his lifetime.
Survivors include daughter, Chenoa Gayle Flores of Merkel; two grandchildren, Brytton Zane Flores of Merkel and Kamryn Alexis Flores of Abilene; and two great grandchildren, Domanic Zane and Ivalynn Stacie Flores of Merkel. He is also survived by many step-children, step-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
